The Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) is a non-profit Academic Research Body established in 1989 by the Greek Ministry of Education. ICCS is ranked in the 19th position (12th together with NTUA) with respect to funding among all European research establishments, companies and universities. The aim of ICCS is to carry research and development activities in the fields of all diverse aspects of telecommunications and computer systems, and their application in a variety of areas. The personnel of ICCS includes more than 500 research associate scientists.

The Centre for Research and Technology-Hellas (CERTH), founded in 2000, is the only research centre in Northern Greece and one of the largest in the country. CERTH participates in ALAMEDA through the Information Technologies Institute (ITI), which was founded in 1998 as a non-profit organisation under the auspices of the General Secretarial of Research and Technology of Greece (GSRT), with its head office located in Thessaloniki, Greece. Since 2000 it has been a founding member of the GSRT supervised CERTH. Two labs from ITI participate in the ALAMEDA project and more specifically the Multimodal Data Fusion and Analytics Group (M4D) of the Multimedia Knowledge and Social Data Analytics laboratory (MKLab) and the Visual Analytics Lab, Virtual & Augmented Reality Lab (VARLAB).
